While we at Pley Sports would love nothing more than to spend the entire summer playing, learning, and leveling up with your child, we also believe in exploring different interests to find out what really clicks.
So let’s break it down. Here’s your guide to crafting a fun, flexible, and fulfilling summer that works for your child and your calendar.
🧭 Your Summer Strategy Toolkit
📆 Make a Schedule 📆
Pick out all of your camps before you register and have a back up plan for each week! We recommend writing each one out and geting all your tabs open on your computer so you are ready to go!
Use this google doc to help you visualize your summer schedule.
📍 Start With What They Love 📍
Whether your child lights up on the field, at the art table, or in front of a science experiment, start with their current passions. Camps are more fun and less intimidating when they begin with something familiar.
Quick Tip: Review a few camp options with your child. Giving them some say increases their excitement—and makes morning drop-offs smoother.
🔄 Mix It Up With Something New 🔄
New interests can spark in unexpected places. Try rotating camps every couple weeks to expose your child to something totally different—like a baking camp after flag football, or LEGO robotics following beach volleyball.
Quick Tip: Look for themes or topics that feel familiar-adjacent—like a Star Wars cooking camp for your sci-fi lover or an art camp if they’re already into coloring and crafts.
📆 Balance the Weekly Schedule 📆
If you’re juggling work or other commitments, full-day camps are a lifesaver. Can’t find an all-day option? Pair a morning PLEY Sports session with an afternoon art, science, or maker camp. Or register for two camps at Corky Smith Gym and PLEY Sports has got you covered for the lunch hour!
Quick Tip: PLEY Sports offers full-day camps like Baseball in the morning and Swimming in the afternoon, running from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Easy, active, and done.
⏰ Book Early, Really Early ⏰
Popular camps (like sports and STEM) fill up fast and many don’t offer waitlists.
Registration opens April 8.
Start With Sports (Because That’s Kinda Our Thing)
At PLEY Sports, our camps are built around what we call Purposeful Play, where kids build confidence, learn foundational skills, and have fun in a low-pressure, high-encouragement environment.

From first-timers to future all-stars, there’s something for everyone:
- 🏈 Flag Football
- 🏐 Indoor Volleyball
- 🏀 Basketball
- ⚽ Soccer
- 🏖️ Beach Volleyball & Extreme Sports
- 🧢 Baseball & Swim or 🎾 Pickleball & Swim full-day combos
- 👶 Rookies Sports Camp for ages 4-6
Every camper gets a free PLEY Sports tee, and every session is led by coaches who care just as much about confidence and kindness as they do about kickball scores.
Try Something New (You Never Know What’ll Spark)
Kids are wildly curious and that’s a beautiful thing. San Marcos has a huge variety of camps designed for creativity, exploration, and plain old fun:
- 🎨 Art Camps for young Picassos
- 👩🍳 Baking & Culinary Camps for future chefs
- 🧱 LEGO Robotics & Engineering for budding builders
- 🐾 Animal Adventures for mini-zookeepers
- 🎭 Musical Theater & Dance for born performers
- 🧙♂️ Fantasy Favorites like Camp Hogwarts, Star Wars Cooking, or World of Wizardry
These camps are more than just fun—they’re a chance to try something new in a supportive space.
Why San Marcos Is THE Place for Summer Camps
This isn’t your average rec schedule. San Marcos offers a build-your-own-adventure lineup of camps across locations like Jack’s Pond, Las Posas Park, and the Community Center.

From Adventure Day Camps with weekly themes (like Fandom Fun and Magic in Motion) to unique one-week specialty experiences, there’s something for every week, every interest, and every kind of kid.
- Thoughtfully designed
- Professionally staffed
- Affordable and inclusive
- Easy to pair morning + afternoon sessions
- Packed with variety (without overloading your kid)
Registration opens April 8. Don’t miss your chance to create the summer your child will be talking about until fall. Whether your child is scoring goals, building a rocket, or making edible wands, every camp they join this summer is a step toward confidence, creativity, and connection.
But wherever their journey leads, we hope this guide helps you build the BEST. SUMMER. EVER.
